Hospitals in Danzig
Marienkrankenhaus
During the existence of Freie Stadt Danzig, there were four big hospitals beside of small private hospitals and clinics. The oldest one, called Marienkrankenhaus was built in 1853. The hospital was located at Schleusengasse 8-10 (Kieturakisa street).

Diakonissen Mutterhaus
The second one was Diakonissen Mutterhaus und Krankenhaus built in 1857. This was hospital for children and women. It was located at Neugarten 2-6 (Nowe Ogrody street).

Staatlichen Frauenklinik
The next hospital was hospital for women, it was located in the buildings of Provinzial Hebamenn Lehranstalt built in 1819. During the existence of Freie Stadt Danzig it go a name Staatliche Frauenklinik but citizens used name "Storchenhous" - stork's nest. It was located at Schellmühlerweg (Kliniczna street). The building was destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt two years later, there is also obsteric hospital there today.

Städtisches Krankenhaus
During years 1907 - 1911 new hospital was build near Delbrückallee (Debinki street), it was called Neues Krankenhaus (new hospital) or Städtisches Krankenhaus (municipal hospital). The koplex of hospital buildings were enlarged in 1920s. In 1935 Die Staatliche Akademie für Praktische Medizin zu Danzig - Medical Academy was organized in the hospital. The hospital is stoill in use and the Gdansk Medical University is located there.

Beside of mnicipal hospitals there were many small, private clinics. There was surgery-orthopedy clinic located in former surgery hospital at Sandgrube 9/15 (ks. Rogaczewskiego street). Another surgery clinic - dr Fritz Winne's clilnic was opened at the same street, at Sandgrube 38/40. Few years later it was moved to building at Karthäuserstraße 2 (Kartuska street).
